### Our Adventure at Gen Con Indy 2024

In early August, my husband and I embarked on an exciting journey to Indianapolis, Indiana, to attend Gen Con Indy 2024, which took place from August 1-4 at the Indiana Convention Center. For those unfamiliar, Gen Con is a grand festival celebrating all things gaming, from board games and card games to role-playing games and computer games. It’s a paradise for gaming enthusiasts, where you can shop for the latest titles, demo new games, and even compete in various tournaments and interactive sessions.

While to focus of this convention is mainly various games, I was there for the Speed Puzzle Palooza, a competition sponsored by Ravensburger North America. This event turned the typically relaxing activity of puzzling into a thrilling race against the clock!

#### Speed Puzzle Palooza: A Competitive Challenge

The premise was simple yet exhilarating: race to complete a Ravensburger puzzle as quickly as possible. Whether you were a novice to speed puzzling or a seasoned pro, the competition welcomed everyone. It was USAJPA sanctioned, meaning participants could add their completion times to their JPAR score, which added a fun twist for those looking to track their progress.

I joined many eager competitors at the Ravensburger Event Hall Space in Hall A on Saturday, August 3, from 9 am to 10:45 am. The atmosphere was electric! Everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation, ready to tackle the challenge. The puzzle for the event was a limited edition 500-piece featuring Baby Genevieve from My Little Demon.

Completing the puzzle as quickly as possible was both exhilarating and nerve-racking, but it made for a fantastic experience. Although it was my first time at Gen Con, I found the energy and camaraderie among fellow participants made the whole day incredible.

#### Reflecting on the Experience

Gen Con 2024 was a whirlwind of excitement, and I did find it a tad overwhelming at times, but it was a phenomenal introduction to the convention world. The array of games to explore and the passion of fellow gamers filled the halls with a palpable sense of community.

I left with memories of the thrill of competition, a newfound appreciation for speed puzzling, and even a limited edition Ravensburger puzzle to take home as a memento of the day.

As I wrap up my thoughts, I’m already planning for next year. In 2025, I aim to go back, this time with a better plan to explore all that Gen Con has to offer. I can’t wait to dive deeper into the gaming universe and discover even more fun and creativity!

Stay tuned for more adventures from my gaming journey!
